He had compelling subject matter: All that time spent on the road. "A lot of the lyrics on Away From The Sun are about loneliness," admits Brad. "On tour, you really have nothing but time on your hands. I was feeding off those feelings of isolation. With these songs, I wanted to convey to the listener that he or she is not alone--there are a lot of people who feel the same way." "The band has grown a lot on the road," he adds. "Our sound is different now," says Matt. " The music has grown. In one word, it's better." One listen to the first single, "When I'm Gone" and you'll agree.

Maroon 5 - It Won't Be Soon Before Long

I loved Maroon 5's first album. It Won't Be Soon Before Long is quite similar but seems to embrace a more 'poppy' sound. As a rocky person this was a bit of a disappointment but after a few listens I now really like this album. There are some great tracks, all with a kind of easy-to-listen-to quality. The band claimed this album to be "stronger" and "sexier" but I think this is just because of some the language used. The 'poppiness' is simply a consequence of M5 moving into a more mainstream genre.

So Far So Good offers up 13 of his previous hits plus a new song, "Please Forgive Me," a gooey, Michael Bolton-like ballad. The album starts out with "Summer of '69," the appealing autobiographical song about the 10-year-old Adams learning to play his first guitar in Ontario, and includes "(Everything I Do) I Do for You," the synth-laced ballad that wound up in the Guinness Book of World Records after topping the British singles charts for 16 weeks. With its over-the-top, gravelly vocals, So Far So Good reminds one of Rod Stewart's 1980s work when he was coasting on past achievements. Unfortunately, Adams has never had a period like Stewart's glory years in the '70s.
